During the late 1970s, Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran, was losing his grip on power. As anti-Shah feeling increased and support for Ayatollah Khomeini gathered pace, the government started to make provision for the protection of its assets and thousands of millions of dollars belonging to the Peacock Throne.
Harry Weston an English engineer, living and working in Iran before the revolution, is unwittingly earmarked as the key to be called upon at some future time to assist in the recovery of the funds.
Some 30 years later, now retired and living in Spain, Harry receives a mysterious telephone call which results in him accompanying a prominent Iranian, living in California, to visit Iran, having been persuaded he is the sole key to the funds being returned to their rightful owners which will improve the lives of millions of people.
After his arrival in Iran Harry quickly discovers that two other factions, one of whom is the Revolutionary Guard Corps, the Pasadran, have learnt of his visit and eager to lay their hands on the information that will release the Pahlavi funds into their keeping. Perhaps more sinister, is the unearthing of secreted information that could assist Iran to enrich uranium to weapons quality in a very short period of time.
Israel, aware of its vulnerability, should Iran become a nuclear power, enlist Mossad to ensure the information does not fall into the hands of the Pasadran.
Harry and his Iranian companion are puzzled as to why the Pasadran are always one step ahead of them and as a result are exposed to threats and danger throughout their trip.
All is not as it seems and results in two aggressive factions being played off one against the other.
Uncertainty of the success of the venture persists throughout the entire operation.
